Description:

Washington D.C. has some of the best spots to skate on the east coast because the whole city is made out of marble. If you come to D.C. come check out the legendary Pulaski Park (Freedom Plaza), which is equivalent to Philadelphia's Love Park. Freedom Plaza is located on 13th and Pennsylvania Ave. It is the most frequented spot in the city and contains a variety of marble ledges, stairs, gaps, and even a jump ramp set up with a trash can. Contrary to popular belief, Pulaski is not that big of a bust. Just keep an eye out for the Park Police which have solid blue strips going across their police cars. The best times to skate Freedom Plaza is after 6 p.m. and at night when the dickheads in the office buildings across the street stop calling the Park Police and retire to their suburban homes. White steps, Federal Reserve (a huge gap the size of a 14 stair), and the newest hot spot, which is the Navy Memorial, are all a few blocks from Pulaski. The city is easy to get around in and the only other main spot you might need a car to get to is Welfare which is located on 3rd and Independence Ave Its to you from recent videos like EST, Static and Progression VM. Near Welfare is the L' Phante Plaza area, which is home to the Police ledge off stairs (seen in 411 #35) and some buttery ledges, rails, and other obstacles. [edited by moderator 8/06/2002] When you come to D.C., keep an eye out for the next generation of local rippers which consist of Andy Honen, Adam Graham, Mike Nalls, Paul Mcelroy, Alex Hansen, Sammy Wientzen, Keir Johnson and well known locals: Jeremy Owens, Pepe Martinez,Bryan Boatman, John Igei, and Brian Tucci. All the skaters here are very friendly so don't be afraid to say wuz up. D.C. is quickly becoming the east coast's most talked about skate scene so come through and check us out. Other spots worth noting: Library of Congress, National gallery of art, GW University, Indiana Plaza, District Courthouse, and the Policemen's memorial.
